Tony Emmerson

Tony is the Senior Deputy Head and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead at the English College in Prague, an academically successful HMC school and member of the COBIS Training Schools network.

His professional achievements include the creation of Teaching Together in Europe, which provides European placements for UK-based trainee teachers, and developing ISQAM: Wider Perspectives, a new iteration of the HMC leadership qualification aimed at aspiring and new middle leaders who want to learn about diverse curricula and assessment systems. He is a member of the HMC Academic Deputies Conference Steering Group and a regular attendee at the Conference itself.

Before moving to Prague in 2006, Tony was a Teacher of Chemistry at Notting Hill & Ealing High School in London, a freelance writer, and a private investigator.

He is an experienced user of school data in both the UK and international contexts, working with classroom teachers, middle leaders, and senior teams to develop policies that are simple, effective, and pupil-focused. His other professional roles include coaching middle leaders, overseeing academic policy, and managing day-to-day operations. He completed his NPQH with the Institute of Education and maintains close links with the independent sector, especially in London, but still enjoys living and working in Central Europe.

When not working, Tony enjoys listening to Bob Dylan and Peter Hammill, reading Private Eye and cricket history books, and fine dining.
